This Year at ACI
A Contest of Ideas is a nonpartisan journal of opinion dedicated to engaging students in honest, searching, and civil discussion about the problems we face as a campus, as a country, and as a world. We will not use this platform to promote any particular set of beliefs; on the contrary, ACI has always sought to put thoughtful people of disparate viewpoints in dialogue with each other. Therefore, the journal has always welcomed the contributions of people of all faith and ideological backgrounds. We hope that if you read something in our publication with which you disagree, you will write to us and explain why. If you make a compelling case, we would be happy to publish your rebuttal. Our mission with ACI has always been to advance public discourse with the intention of bettering our communities. We truly hope you’ll join us in this effort.
ACI will publish every third Tuesday this semester, amounting to four publications. In conjunction with the Carroll Scholars Program, we will host a series of discussions following lectures on free speech, democratic decline, and other issues we face as a society today. We will provide further details about the lectures and post-lecture discussions via social media. We hope to see you there.
